Isfahan carpets are widely considered the epitome of elegance, luxury, and aristocratic refinement in the world of Persian weaving. They trace their lineage to the city of Isfahan in central Iran, where the craft reached its absolute zenith during the Safavid dynasty, specifically under the reign of Shah Abbas I (1588–1629 AD). When Isfahan became the Safavid capital, royal ateliers were built to craft opulent carpets for imperial palaces and grand mosques. To this day, Isfahan rugs remain an international symbol of prestige.

• Patterns: Known for unparalleled geometric precision and fluid symmetry. They prominently feature central medallions (Lachak and Toranj), delicate floral motifs, scrolling arabesque branches, trees of life, Persian gardens, and narrative historical or hunting scenes.
• Color Palette: Masterfully balanced tones of ivory, navy, crimson, turquoise, and beige, with silk threads heavily woven into the highlights to make the motifs catch the light dramatically.
• Composition: Crafted from exceptionally soft Kurk wool or pure natural silk. A very common high-end configuration utilizes a fine wool pile accented with silk outlines, woven onto a warp and weft made entirely of pure silk.
• Knot Style: Weavers strictly employ the asymmetrical Persian knot, which is essential for rendering the ultra-fine, fluid curvilinear lines characteristic of the style.
